Stroller Obsession: Britax B-Ready (& a Giveaway!)

by Jessica Shyba on August 19, 2010

in Adventures in NYC,Giveaways,Reviews,Stroller Obsession

You all probably know this by now, but I have a small issue.  Since moving to Manhattan I have become completely obsessed with strollers.  You see, our strollers here in the city are like our “cars”.  They are our mode of transportation, and they must be fantastic.  They need to feel luxurious without the leather or fancy rims, and drive like a Range Rover over the uneven pavement.  They must accommodate my coffee, a diaper bag, two bags of groceries, the Potette Potty, a Mini Kick Razor Scooter, two toddlers and at least a couple of toys.  I’m not kidding. This is a typical day for us.

I’ve been on my quest now for a year to find the perfect city stroller.  I’ve found myself stranded in the rain pumping flat tires, stuck in the snow with wheels that were too small, unable to get into grocery stores (size), and mending ripped seats.

When the Britax B-Ready arrived at my apartment, I was over the moon.  I was more excited about this stroller than I was on Christmas morning, and it’s surpassed my expectations.  It’s been a dream to have around the city.

As soon as I got it assembled, I took the kids out for a spin to the farmer’s market.  They both promptly fell asleep at 10:30AM (usually they nap at 1:00PM).

I love that it’s in-line, I don’t have to worry about flat tires, both kids are very comfortable in the large seats, they can both sleep comfortably and I can carry all my gear and STILL push with one hand.

It weighs roughly 26 lbs with one seat and no canopy, while the second seat weighs 7 lbs.  It’s a little heavy to carry up and down the subway steps but it didn’t stop me.    If it works in the city, you can pretty much bet that it will work most other places.

We started our family with Britax car seats and strollers and it’s absolutely a go-to, trustworthy brand. I have been thrilled with the performance of the Britax B-Ready.

Key Features of the Britax B-Ready:

  • Second seat in back is optional
  • Both seats have three recline positions
  • Stroller folds with the back seat attached
  • No-Thread adjustable 5-Point Harness
  • Two Canopy’s with ventilation window
  • Large storage space with zipper openings on all sides
  • Infant car seat adapter, adult cup holder, and rain cover are all included
  • Front seat can hold up to 55lbs, Back seat holds up to 35lbs
  • 14 possible confugurations

WIN IT!

I’m thrilled to be able to offer one of my readers a chance to win a Britax B-Ready accessory (bassinet, 2nd seat or infant car seat).

I have been looking at the double stroller and a feature of this Britax that I like and haven’t seen from the others on the market, is the cool and large and easily accessible basket underneath. Baskets are a huge selling point for me! I also like that you can fold with the seat(s) attached. You don’t need to take the seat off, like the Bugaboo….to me that was a dumb design. This stroller seems like it was designed by a mom and not a man :)

I think it’s AWESOME that the kids can ride facing you. Not enough strollers offer that option!

I would LOVE to win this! Also a New York mama with a toddler and newborn – having so much trouble finding the “perfect” stroller for us. I love how the toddler seat goes both forward and backyards. Looks amazing!

I too am totally stroller obsessed. It looks like my Phil & Teds…yet better! I LOVE that the stroller seat can face you! And the bottom seat looks like it reclines way more than my Phil & Teds.

I love that it is not double wide. I hate barely being able to fit through doors.

I watched video 1 but video 2 did not work for me. This stroller looks so cool. My favorite features are the reclining seats and that you can use it w/ bassinet, infant or toddler seat . It looks so easy to maneuver. B ready is the perfect name for this stroller!

OMG! I MUST have another child! I could so use this with my two kids and when #3 comes along keep it in the loop! I loved the video (i’m very visual) so i could see how I could adjust the stroller with my newborn plus either of my toddlers. all it needs is a 3rd child ride along step! Thanks for sharing this! I could totally use one to travel with!

Wow, so many options. There are plenty of strollers with double capacity out there, but not with the options/positions this stroller has. I’m pregnant with my second looking for a double stroller, this one just might be it!

I’m also a manhattan mama and about to have baby #2. The britax b ready seems like the perfect stroller for all my needs with a toddler and a soon to arrive newborn! I love that both will be comfortable in it and there is enough room, but its not too heavy a stroller. Love that its inline so I will still be able to fit into tight grocery store aisles and on crowded sidewalks! So many things to love! I could go on and on!

Some things that I find handy about this stroller is the way that two infant carriers can fit. It is also great how you can interchange the seats based on your needs.
The best feature is how the baby/child can face you. Cool.

Thanks!

I also have a stroller obsession and have admittedly gone through 5 and am still not happy. This stroller seems to have every single feature that I could possibly want and more. I love the one touch break and the rear facing toddler seat. I must have this stroller! EEk…now to convince my husband. Hopefully I’ll win and I won’t have to. ;)

I want this stroller!! I have been looking at the Phil & Teds tandem stroller but this one seems much better! I love that BOTH seats recline, that way I can put my newborn in the back seat with my toddler in the front. I also love that the second seat has a canopy which most of the Phil & Teds do not.

When I saw this stroller and what it all had to offer, I knew this was the PERFECT double stroller! I have been drooling over it ever since Jessica shared all about it. I love, love how flexible it is–that both a baby and toddler seat recline, that you can remove the toddler seat and just have it single, that an infant carrier can also fit on it. Seriously, it can do EVERYTHING. I would love to win the 2nd seat!

Great job, Britax with coming up with such an awesome model, and thanks, Jessica for sharing all about it!

I’ve been shopping around for the perfect storller and I believe I have found it. What I like the most about the Britax B-Ready storller is that it’s a one-time buy. When you have one baby you buy a stroller. When the second baby comes along, you need to buy a double stroller. Britax B-Ready accomodates whatever your situation is without having to buy another stroller. This is the perfect stroller; Sarah Jessica Parker agrees. She strolls her twin girls in one.
