Monday Morning Stoop Snoop

This past few days will easily enter the books as some of the busiest on record. With Fashion Week, the Toy Fair, Justin’s 30th birthday and Valentine’s Day, things have been beyond hectic.

Between buzzing up and down this island in trains, buses and taxi cabs, dodging freezing rain and streams of fellow travelers, there have been a few peaceful moments. Seconds prolonged when everything around us stopped and we froze in time like a scene in The Matrix.

My Funny Valentine

Every other day during the week, Zoe and I have the mornings to ourselves while Jack is in school. Today was the first day in a while that we were able to take a leisurely stroll around our neighborhood. It’s simply been too cold to really enjoy it. This morning however, was a downright balmy 40 degrees, so we headed out to get some last minute Valentine’s Day shopping done.

We’re lucky enough that our errands take us down the streets of Gramercy Park. Along the way, we stop to peek into the stories that lie beyond the stoops to the elegant apartment buildings and smile at the people passing us on their way to work. Zoe loves exploring and dancing around the iron bars that protect and adorn the brick walls.

I found myself getting lost in the moment until Zoe broke the silence and said “Momma, you’re my best friend”. I can’t help but wonder if she was getting lost in the moment too, and dare I say enjoying her time with me as well. As a little girl all grown up, I know enough to appreciate the heck out of these rare, precious times.

We stopped to pick out a gift for her big brother and discovered The Barbie Doll. Just like I felt time stop in the earlier moments, I can guarantee the second she saw that Barbie, her world too turned to a scene in the Matrix.

I would not be leaving without The Barbie Doll.

And so begins a new era.

Such beautiful pictures! I adored Barbie and still have a few of the Holiday ones, closed in their original boxes. Some girlhood things you can never let go of.

“Momma, you’re my best friend.” That is so so precious and makes morning moments like those even MORE special. I’m so glad you got to enjoy the warmer weather. I was so happy to feel what 40 degrees felt like — almost forgot there. lol. I hope this means that warmer weather will be approaching. And staying.

I love the pictures of your daughter with the buildings and iron fence behind her! It really captures your city life well. She is such a sweet age too – I love the “Mama you’re my best friend” moments.

We are in love with Barbies at our house. We have Barbie house, cars, vacation homes, etc… It’s a fantasy world that we love to play in!

Your photos are breathtaking!
I’m a native New Yorker and I’ve always wanted to live smack-dab in the city. Your photos capture NYC in a fresh yet real way.

And your children are beautiful as well.

Than you for sharing. You are a gem of a blog find!
