Cruisin’ in the new Bugaboo Donkey

Yesterday, the kids and I were asked to head down to one of our favorite stores in SoHo, giggle (for whom I’ll be blogging for shortly-yay!), to take a few photos with and cruise around in the new, mega hyped Bugaboo Donkey stroller.

I’ve been waiting for months to get my paws on this hot little stroller (you all know about my vastly documented stroller obsession), so of course I jumped at the chance. Have I mentioned how much I love living in New York City?

The Donkey was everything I hoped it would be. Narrow, adjustable, super easy to drive, roomy and gorgeous. We strolled along the cobblestone streets of SoHo and it was one of the nicest experiences I have had with a stroller.

I came home with a mega crush on yet another stroller and made a date to come see it again tonight at their red carpet debut.

Today we woke up to emails and texts from numerous friends here in the city. The four of us were featured on the second page of the New York Daily News. Wasn’t I just talking about being published yesterday? This is a little different, but still pretty exciting. Our extended family has gotten a huge kick out of it, while no doubt questioning my stroller sanity.

Note: While he fits well in the seats, I would most likely attach a standing board to the back of this stroller for Jack to ride on, especially in the event that our family expands.

    From another stroller crazy mom!

  • I really wish he wouldn’t have kept saying “If you have a 3 year old and a newborn….” DAMMIT – now I want one!

    • thank you for being my cheerleader, Nic!!

  • Oh wow a $1500!! Yea, I would love the opportunity to get my hands on one of those too. It looks like it does pretty much everything and should last a lot of wear and tear.

  • they don’t need a stroller. those look like some really strong kids. they can walk.

    • I appreciate the observation. I agree, they are exceptionally strong children.

    • Our doorman even recognized us! Bizarre.

yes… it is a fabulous stroller. Felt like a chariot.

  • Im expecting twins in 6 weeks and ive just ordered my donkey, but i woke up this morning in a complete panic, that it wouldn’t be big enough as they grow!! How old are your children and what age will they out grow it do you think??
Its not a cheap stroller therefore dont want to have to pay out of another one a few years down the line πŸ˜€ xx

    • Hi Natalie,

Honestly that was the part that I loved most about this stroller. My kids are 2 and 4 years old ( in the 90th percentile) and pushing 70 pounds collectively. If you can see, Jack is a teensy bit long for the seat, but the width is just fine and the seats are some of the longest I’ve seen in a double stroller. They were both very comfortable in the stroller, and was very easy to push, even one handed.

The bonus of investing in a stroller like this is it will accommodate your children as they get bigger. You’ll likely move out of a stroller entirely after 4 or so, anyway.

      I hope this helped!

  • Thanks for posting the videos of your kids riding in it! The only videos and pictures I have seen have been the stroller kid-less.

We have a 1 year old and newborn, and looking forward to getting the stroller to get around here in our great city of Chicago.

  • Thanks for posting the picture with your kids in the stroller. I certain of getting this stroller but my husband is worried that my son will outgrow it. My son will be 3 in a few weeks and my newborn will arrive in dec. my son is in the 95 percentile , do you think he will be ok ? Just worried since the weight limit is like 37.5

  • Hi. Just looking at your article and I am after getting a donkey I have a 6yo but he is not very good at walking on long days out. Would you think he would be ok in this by his little sister. Or was your son the biggest child that would fit xxx

    • I think it depends on how big your child is. My six year old is too big for the Donkey, but the Bugaboo stroller board might be an option for him? My nearly three year old probably only has another year himself in our Donkey. We use the scooter option with the bigs and it works for us. Good luck!
