Stroller Obsession: iCandy

This is one smokin’ hot stroller. You know me… I love things that are a little different, a lot stylish, and incredibly functional. The day I received my iCandy Pear, complete with flashes of chrome and my own custom colors… you would have thought I received a pair of Christian Louboutins in the mail. I’m a little cuckoo for my strollers.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Life in the city requires an awesome stroller. It needs to hit so many points on levels of accessibility and functionality, and there are so many to choose from. This is where my Stroller Obsession comes from: My quest to find the perfect stroller.

The iCandy Pear is making a mighty strong case for itself in my book. With up to twenty different seating options to accommodate either twins, two infants or two smaller children (they say it will carry up to a 3 year old), this stroller adjusts with life. I loved that I could carry both children or remove one seat for the days when I take Zoe to school. Plus, you have the option to buy the flavour packs- washable seat inserts in fabulous colors such as blackcurrant, redcurrant, grape, imperial and mandarin.

The iCandy Pear has inflatable tires and weighs in at a rather hefty 39.5 pounds with all of the accessories. We took it on the bus, on the subway, in a taxi, and through the snow and rain. Both seats recline, and individual rain covers are included for each seat. When two larger children (ie 2 and 3 year olds) are riding, the stroller gets a little difficult to steer, and the storage basket is inaccessible when the second seat is installed. Both seats must be removed from the frame in order to fold and store the stroller when traveling, or closet storage if you live in an apartment (like us).

I love my iCandy Pear. That said, there are a few little things that make it less than optimal for my personal lifestyle (i can’t take it alone with the kids if I’m traveling on the subway or bus). We use it daily though, as it does hit many of the points that I need it to… it’s narrow, easily converts to accommodate one or two children, is tricked out and damn sexy.

Or, in the off chance “Big Baby” needs a lift as well.

Disclosure: I received an iCandy Pear Stroller for purposes of this review and as an iCandy Parent Ambassador. All opinions are my own.

  • It’s like a little car!
Uhm, are ALL the grocery store aisles that narrow?!

    xoxo

  • so agree with everything you wrote! I am OBSESSED with my iCandy. My son loves being in the front and thinking he is the head of the ship! It’s a fabulous city stroller. A must for any cosmopolitan mom of two!

  • I have a stroller obsession as well! When I was pregnant with my 2nd – I swear figuring out the perfect double stroller was my biggest stress. I’m just that weird. LOVE this stroller! I’ve been looking for a smaller double and will check this one out!

  • It’s almost embarrassing how obsessed I was with finding the perfect stroller! I was really relaxed about everything else, but living in a city without a car, my stroller was to be my statement piece! It also had to handle cobble stones streets, extreme weather, stairs and being squeezed into stores. I searched high and low and pushed them endlessly around baby stores testing them out. I even bought and returned the Teutonia. I couldn’t be happier with my iCandy Peach. My baby girl rides in style (it gets so many “oohs” and “aahhs”, and I am able to finagle through any weather or situation NYC throws my way! Go iCandy and thanks for your post, I’m hoping to have another in the near future and will convert it into a double.

  • I cannot believe how much the market for strollers has changed! It’s just so interesting. My older son is 7.5, and when he was born, a high end stroller was a Maclaren! That was really it. Everybody had one. I didn’t even see a bugaboo until about 5 years ago. And after that… Phil & Teds, Valco… the new Spanish ones…
Okay, I’m a little bit of a nerd about this.
    But… wow.

  • I just reviewed this same stroller here

    – I LOVE it as well. I’m thinking we must be leading parallel
lives because I see your name everywhere! Are you going to the Brooklyn Baby Expo this weekend? I’ll be there – pushing the iCandy with my twins in tow.

  • Wow! I don’t think I’ve seen one of these in person. Looks so hip and not much larger than a Vista or Chameleon.

  • Hey there! I know it’s been a while since this post, but I was hoping you could tell me how is it Pear with only ONE seat. I have a 1.5 yr. old that will use daily, but my 3 yr. old won’t… then if we have a FOURTH(!!!) one then we’ll use it often. I was just wondering how does it ride, maneuvers and looks with only one seat on. ANy help would be appreciated, Mari
