Britax Baby Carrier: Review and Giveaway
I’m a huge proponent of baby wearing, but my obsession with it didn’t start until Zoe was born and I was also chasing after an active 19 month old. Wearing Zoe on me changed my life for the better in so many ways… I cannot even fathom how I would have survived the first few months without a trusted carrier at all. She immediately fell asleep for hours until it was time to nurse again, and I was able to have both arms available for playing with Jack, picking up toys, and preparing snacks. Game changer.
There are so many carriers to choose from, each with their own features and carrying positions. I believe that it’s a personal choice based on comfort level- and like my stroller obsession, I definitely have tried most of them. My needs have changed since moving to New York City, as I’ll need to have the baby in front of me at all times as he grows older. With Zoe and Jack, I was comfortable transitioning them to my back for long walks but I certainly won’t be doing that for subway travel. Different lifestyles, different needs.
One thing we all must have, however, is comfort for both the baby wearer and the wellness of the child. We all stick with the brands that we know and trust, and so the new release of Britax’s new Baby Carrier comes as a welcomed surprise. I had the opportunity to see and test it out personally, and I’m very excited.
*Features the CarryLong System, which minimizes the risk of back and shoulder strain during extended wear by distributing weight across the shoulders, back and hips. Other Fit & Comfort features include a removable infant insert, padded leg openings, and an open and contoured design.
*Engineered for simple daily use. An over-the-head design makes it easy to get the carrier on and off, one-handed buckles and snaps simplify getting the child in and out of the carrier, and both the harness and waist belt straps have been constructed fro easy adjustment.
*Adjustable head support and leg loops provide head and neck stability for younger infants and a secure fit for smaller babies. A secure harness and pouch design ensures that baby will stay securely withing the carrier.
For those of you (and I) concerned about the weight placed on the baby’s hips and pelvic area, Britax offers seat extenders so that the weight is more evenly distributed. There are, however, no studies showing inflicted harm of any kind upon the baby from carriers where the baby is “dangling”.
Other key features:
* One-Handed Buckles and Snaps allow you to get your child in and out of the carrier easily
* Harness Straps adjust from front of carrier for proper customized fit
* Easy-Adjust Waist Belt accommodates 22 inches to 56 inches for the perfect fit
* Excess Belt Storage Bands eliminate loose straps
* Machine Washable for easy cleaning
* 100% Cotton Machine Washable Bib (included) protects carrier from stains
* Adjustable Head Support provides head and neck stability for younger infants
* Leg Loops reduce the size of leg openings for 8-11 pound infants for secure fit
* Secure Harness and Pouch Design ensures that baby will stay securely within the carrier
I personally found the carrier to be one of the easiest to load the baby into and out of, and was the easiest to adjust with baby in it. This is a big deal-especially when you’re on your own and/or have other children to tend to.
The Britax Baby Carrier retails for $129.99 and will be available for purchase this summer.
