Hershey’s Air (balloon) Delight

Hershey’s has brilliantly figured out how to marry chocolate and, well… air. I was invited along with other members of the media to literally taste their new aerated product elevated off of the ground in a hot air balloon-and it was one of the neatest things I’ve ever done.

We were transported to New Jersey via helicopter, where the hot air balloons and bags of Hershey’s Air Delight were stationed.

I’m a big chocolate fan, but not the kind that can sit and consume an entire bar in one sitting. This chocolate is a little different, however.

It’s light and fluffy, and melts in your mouth much quicker than a solid bar of chocolate. The Hershey’s Air Delight Kisses are the perfect little morsel of after dinner satisfaction, or in my case round-the-clock sweet sneaks (hey, I’m pregnant. I’m allowed).

When we arrived at the hot air balloons, we were given a bag of the new Hershey’s Air Delight bars and Kisses to add to our list of first try’s-and in some cases, calm the nerves of those of us slightly spooked by heights. I had never been up in a hot air balloon before, and honestly probably won’t do it again, as much as I enjoyed the experience. There’s just something about being elevated 100ft off of the ground in a padded basket attached to a balloon that doesn’t feel normal to me. It was very neat though, especially because we were tethered to the ground and knew a strong gust of wind on a potentially stormy night wouldn’t take us far.

We made it down safe and sound, with bellies happy and full of chocolate. On the helicopter ride back in New York City, we were just in time to see the city lit up after the sun had set. This was easily one of the most spectacular experiences I’ve had; My love, adoration, admiration, and awe of Manhattan was rekindled all over again.

Life is lived so much more spectacularly from different perspectives.

I was not compensated for this post. I was given samples of Hershey’s Air Delight for review, and my rides on the helicopter and hot air balloon were complimentary as well.

  • There is DEFINITELY something terrifying about being suspended from a basket (a BASKET!?!) under a giant balloon. I’m not a wuss, but even I would be squeamish about that ride. The helicopter views look amazing though!
