Stroller Obsession: Maclaren Volo (plus a giveaway!)

As the kids have gotten older, we’ve gotten more mobile around the city via public transportation. Where we used to walk for blocks and blocks, two kids tucked in the stroller and myself armed with a latte, we now pack light and simply walk to the nearest bus or subway station. Being that Zoe is still young enough that her little legs just can’t carry her around the city without getting tuckered out, we tend to bring a stroller out with us, anyway. This means that the particular stroller must be light enough to carry up and down steps and compact to fit onto trains and busses.
Enter the Maclaren Volo. Closing in at 9 pounds including the shopping basket and hood, this stroller is nearly the perfect travel companion. My favorite feature of the Volo is the attached strap that allows for the stroller to be carried in the folded position, slung over my shoulder along with my purse and shopping bags.
The Maclaren Volo allows me to go anywhere and everywhere, and that is a bit of freedom that is very rare when traveling with strollers & children. I don’t have to worry about the space that it takes up at tiny restaurants or boutiques, or being able to get into and out of taxi cabs in a hurry. As a parent, anything that lends ease and adaptability is welcomed 100% into my life. Not to mention, with a brand like Maclaren, you know they stand behind their product and make excellent strollers.
Specifics:
Basic Weight
4.0kg/ 8.8lb
(without hood, shopping basket or raincover)
Carrying Capacity
up to 15kg/ 55lb (US)
Appropriate From
Six months
Recline
One position
Wheel Size
11.4cm/ 4.5in
The only issue that I had with the Volo is the absence of a recline position. Given the lightweight aspect of the stroller, I understand how that is a compromised feature but for us it’s a pretty big one. Once we are out and about, usually we are gone for hours and typically Zoe needs a nap. Even still, she doesn’t seem to mind-it doesn’t affect her ability to fall asleep!
Win It!
I’m so thrilled that I can pass along one of these awesome strollers to one of my readers! Loving is sharing, right?

I was not compensated for this post, however I was provided with a Maclaren Volo Stroller for purposes of this review. All opinions are my own.
What I appreciate most about my stroller these days is it’s amazing ability to soothe my baby to sleep! π
I love the Maclaren strollers and could use the Volo for trips where we don’t need to bring our larger Maclaren. The most important feature iin a stroller the ease to open and close (considering I will most likely be holding the baby) and the stroller weight.
I look for something lightweight and sturdy. There are so many umbrella type strollers that fall apart after a few months!
Drink holder for my latte for sure!!!! Close second is maneuverability. My Bugaboo Frog totally rocks on all fronts except for ease of airplane travel. Guess you can’t have it all?!
I look for something with lots of storage – my current umbrella stroller doesn’t have ANY basket at all!
I follow Maclaren on Facebook! I have for a while – I’m a HUGE fan of theirs!

I appreciate a stroller to be light and very easy to maneuver, preferably with one hand.

Strollers have to be able to be pushed with one hand and able to turn on a dime. Need the other hand to open doors, answer the phone and sip my coffee π

My favorite aspect of a stroller is overall user-friendliness. I don’t want something that I have to struggle to open, close, store, use, etc.
I like Maclaren on fb.
I definitely need some form of cargo area to stash things. And a stroller that can be pushed with one hand is a nice feature. But the cargo area is a must!

I love a good canopy for shade coverage. And something lightweight, yet sturdy. Tall handles, stylish, can be pushed with one hand but doesn’t have a bar, must have 2 handles to hang purse and bags…….Maclaren!
I really need a one-hand fold stroller~~

i loved my maclaren so much i had to lay it to rest at the jersey shore a few weeks ago, it broke and could not be repaired and i m looking for a new one now i’m lost without it!
The lightweight and easy carry is a total plus with
this stroller. We love to exore and travel. NYC Is a favorite.
With three kids under five we are in need of something
just like thus! But already owning 4 strollers( none doing what I need),
I can’t convince my husband to let me buy another.
I wish I just spendt the money on one mclearn instead
of numerous other imitations!
Keeping my fingers crossed as this would be perfect timing got
our American girl trip!
Ps already a fan of maclearn and now u!
nice volo…really need to buy it!
I love that it actually has an umbrella/shade on it. Our current umbrella stroller does not and it defeats one of the purposes of a stroller (in my opinion).

I look for storage and a stroller that is easy to fold up/unfold.
Thanks for the opportunity.

It’s funny, because I’ve been looking for that one last stroller. Something light and compact. My son just turned three and while he’s a big walker, at times he still needs to sit for a bit. This would be perfect.
I need a stroller that is lightweight and compact so I can get around the city quickly! The Volo would be perfect.
I looks for space and comfort. there is so many strollers that don’t have any room to put anything.

Lightweight and compact. I live in the city, in a townhouse so it’s so important for a stroller to be good on the go.
Comfort for the baby!~ If mine isn’t comfortable she will not stay in it therefore it is useless to have!

What I appreciate the most about a stroller is its versatility to match your personality. Whether you are a marathon runner or a city mom, there is a stroller out there to fit you personality, travel and colour preferences π
The aspect I appreciate the very most in a stroller is that it helps make travelling with a small child so much easier! Plus, it gives you a place to store all of the “stuff” that your child needs. In terms of stroller features – for me a stroller has to have good wheels – they have to not shake the stroller (and wake up the baby) when we go over sidewalk cracks.

I’m a mom on the go in-need of a stroller on the go!
I would love to have a stroller like this one. I am due in a month with our first child and have been researching lightweight strollers like this one. I have suffered from back pain since I was in my early teens having to have spinal fusion surgery at age 20. Deciding to start a family was a huge decision for my husband and I simply because my back is largely uncertain. A lightweight stroller that is easy to manuever would definately help save mama’s back! Thanks for the great giveaway!!

I want a stroller that is comfy and one that actually goes where I push it (opposite of a cheapo umbrella stroller!).

I love a stroller that is lightweight, durable and provides good shade! @ktleen2
I need to see my content baby cozy and happy – all the rest doesn’t matter so much. Just the smile. @winecheesebaby
What I love about strollers is the ability to carry a child around with ease. My child is so heavy that sterollers r really the only long term solution to this.
