Mini Fashionista: H&M Kids (Giveaway!)

I’ve made countless discoveries since moving to this big city with my children two years ago. Before we moved to Manhattan, I made it a point to shop in small boutiques for all of my kid’s clothing because I knew I would find unique and well made pieces. There are downfalls to boutique shopping, however: The prices are usually a pretty high, and it’s never really easy to return something if needed. I was totally fine with all of those things (I learned to buy fewer, more versatile pieces rather than the splashy expensive ones), but I was definitely in need of an alternative shopping method-a budget conscious and easy one.
Boutiques are even harder to find in New York City, so I started poking my nose into the bigger stores to find my children’s clothing. When I discovered H&M Kids, I felt like I had really scored. Not only are their children’s clothes unique, but they are nicely made and last through the wear, tear and many washes that a 3 & 4 year old will put them through. The best part? They are priced really well. It’s evident that H&M stands behind their philosophy: To bring style and quality at the best price. They are also the #1 provider of organic cotton-their entire Baby Basics line is made with organic cotton. This was something I didn’t know and was pleasantly surprised to find out, especially as we just welcomed our third baby.
A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to shop at H&M Kids along with a few of my fellow NYC blogging friends at their new (and huge) store in Midtown.
I came home with $100 worth of clothing for all of my children-each of them got an outfit and a few accessories that they really loved (Spiderman and Hello Kitty pieces made me the hero of the day). Here are some of my favorite looks:
They’ve been wearing these throughout the last couple of weeks: To meet Santa, in their school play of The Nutcracker, and to the playground a few times. It’s nice that the clothes are versatile in that way. I’ve been a shopper at H&M for as long as we’ve lived here, and while I do miss my boutiques back home, it’s nice to have this as our go-to for children’s clothes.
Win It:
I’m so excited to be able to gift one of you not only a $100 H&M gift card but a VIP discount card as well (these are hard to come by, trust me)!

Quality!! I want to know what I’m buying will last through several kids. I also don’t want to pay $15 or more for something that will fall apart or shrink after one wash.

Does it count if I’m not yet a mama? I buy a lot of stuff for friends’ babies and I try to make sure it’s a) their style b) helpful (as in, buying bigger clothes when she’s got more than enough infant stuff lined up) and c) something they wouldn’t buy themselves but still practical for the kiddos (I’ll let the grandmas provide the delicate lace and linen items to be worn once a year). H&M kids sounds perfect!
I love HM, and I got the same shirt and red tie last week for my son to wear for Christmas! I just started following you on twitter. What I love about HM is that their clothes have just the right amount of preppy (!) and for someone like me that only has boys, I like to dress them up a little bit, without overdoing it. I really don’t like the sports kind of clothes for boys, just because I know that someday they will probably choose to wear that, so now, while they are little I want to dress them the way I like!
Something else, this post is not showing on your main website when you click home, it is just available if you go through your tweeter, just to let you know.
Cute but they have to wash through many washes — I have 3 boys and I want the clothes to last
My priority in children’s clothing is that they have to be cute and wash well after many many washes. I hate when I buy something and the first time i wash it … it looks like it’s been a 5th generation hand me down.

The most important thing when shopping for my daughter’s clothes is age appropriateness!
I follow on Twitter!
All that matters to me is that there is quality for the price – but now that my girls are 9 there is the “cool” factor too. H&M is on their approved cool list. 🙂

I LOVE the horse dress!! Great items. I’ll be sure to check it out at the local mall around here. I’ve never been in one. I too love boutique stuff but it does get pricey. Thanks for the tips!

I look for clothes that will wash well AND wear well. No one is happy if my son is too hot or itchy. Quality is important! With everything I buy I hope to reuse it again for the next baby.

Price, quality and style are all important.
Uniqueness, especially in the ‘burbs! Every kid at my daughter’s middle school rocks Abercrombie…she loves to show up knowing nobody else will have the same shirt or coat!
I am new to shopping for my new baby and have learned a lot of things!! Especially that denim is too stiff and not comfortable for a little baby!!
I always look for durability and style when I shop for our 3 kids! Good Luck everyone!!!
PS
Forgot to mention that “machine washable” clothes are VERY important for this mom. Good Lord, I am always doing laundry!!
Thanks, L

and i also love H&M – our x-mas card of my sons has them wearing H&M shirts..
What’s most important to me is the quality in the clothing. Sometimes I don’t mind spending a few extra bucks on say like, Gap jeans because I know my 11mo old son will be able to wear them for quit some time and they will last. H&M is one of my favorite stores as well. Great quality, fashionable and good pricing.
I have a 20 month little boy. I’m always on the lookout for cute & comfy pieces. I want my son to look stylish but and the same time I want him to feel comfortable. I love H&M, its my go to store for all my sons clothes… You can’t beat their reasonable prices, quality, fashionable pieces for my son!
Great Quality, but great prices, and variety.

I look for kids clothes that are stylish and rugged enough for the playground. There’s no such thing as “nice clothes” and “play clothes” in our house. All clothes are play clothes 🙂

The quality of the clothing is most important to me and of course, it must be stylish as well. I love neutral pieces and some colorful ones. My kids mostly wear hand me downs, it is rare I actually get to choose something for them!

Style, durability, fit and cost are the most important things to me when shopping for kids clothes. My 3 year old fashionista is particular about what she likes and she so little for her age that it’s hard to find things that fit her well. H&M’s stuff always satisfies us both and I’m excited with a new baby girl that it has all held up well enough to be enjoyed again. Thanks for the giveaway!

P.S. Congrats on that beautiful baby boy! Hope you guys are all having a smooth transition to life as a party of 5.
Comfort and Quality are the main things I look for when shopping for my daughter. I also have a new one on the way in March!!!!
Originality and whimsy are important when shopping for my almost 4 year old son and daughter. I try for fun but not sloppy… however, a mom at our preschool looked at my daughter this morning and said, “I always love Luci’s outfits; she dresses like she’s 18.” Hmmm the tone of her voice sounded complimentary but I wasn’t sure how to take that one! My kids usually where boutique / not mass produced stuff but H&M seems to have cute things.

I think it would be hard to resist not spending it on myself! Most important thing is definitely wear and tear and being easy to wash. Especially with littler ones who are just mastering that fine art of eating =)

Price, quality and style are my biggies especially since it’s harder (for me)to find cute stuff to put my boys in that isn’t covered in skulls or super baggy. I can always count on H&M to have something great.
