Fashion For A Cause

As I get older, many things are beginning to really come into focus in terms of what is important to me, how I want to spend my time and money and with whom, besides my children, I want to share moments with.

Becoming a parent made many of these things very clear almost immediately, but every now and then I catch myself floundering about, not sure why or for what reasons exactly I’m doing things. What I know for sure is that I want my life to have meaning and substance, and I want to be able to help people in any way that I can. Being a blogger has enabled me to do this in the most basic way possible: Getting the word out about great products, people and organizations that are wonderful and support my own personal mission to do as good as possible for as many as I can.

Yesterday, I was able to be a part of the launch of an incredible collaboration that encompasses nearly everything that means something to me. In honor of their 20th anniversary, Bravado Designs, the company behind the awesome nursing bras and tank tops teamed up with fashion guru and new mother Rebecca Minkoff to create two new Limited Edition product designs for their line. The partnership of beautiful and stylish new tank tops will benefit Jessica Seinfeld’s Baby Buggy organization that works to support families in need. For every nursing tank sold, 20% will go towards Baby Buggy, and one tank will be donated to a mother in need.

One of the most inspiring and giving women that I have ever met, Mrs. Julia Beck of Forty Weeks hosted the beautiful fete, held at the Allison 18 and attended by tons of media, as well as Rebecca Minkoff, Jessica Seinfeld, and Bravado Designs‘ managing director, Kathryn From. It was an incredible event, one that I was lucky to attend and even grab a minute to chat with Rebecca about the collaboration.

“I had my baby a year ago tomorrow, and I tweeted it, and Bravado tweeted back to me. They ended up sending me a box of bras that saved me, (I hadn’t planned on this part of motherhood yet)-and I still wear them today because I’m still nursing. I was also a new member of Baby Buggy, so when the three of us came together it was just a great fit. They’re doing such a great thing by donating so much”.

As someone who has also been nursing my third baby for 9 months and wearing Bravado Designs nursing bras and tanks, I am excited about this collaboration on many fronts. For some reason, I didn’t use nursing bras with my first two babies (whom I nursed for 10 and 11 months respectively), and can completely attest to the fact that there are studies that show that a woman is more likely to continue nursing if she has a proper nursing bra and/or nursing wear. Bravado Designs continuously works to support mothers, and this recent partnership is the perfect example.

Not only do I appreciate this collaboration as a mother, but I am thrilled knowing that my dollars are going to support a fellow mother and families in need. Added bonus: They are super cute and extremely comfortable tops!

The new nursing tanks, Luca and Indy, can be purchased at BravadoDesigns.com and Diapers.com, with 20% of proceeds going to the Non-Profit, Baby Buggy, as well as one tank donated per one sold.

Baby Buggy provides families in need across the country with essential equipment, products, clothing, and educational services for their infants and children ages 0-12.

I was not compensated for this post. I was given a gift bag at the event for my attendance.

  • What a great cause! Since becoming a mom, I too have become more aware of where I spend my money. Now, I’m trying to purchase products from companies that give back to moms or education. It just feels great to know that I too am giving back to the community.

And proper support for a nursing moms is so very important. I won some nursing bras from Bravado and they are great! I’ve been nursing my second for over 13 months now!

  • What a great cause! I believe and work to instill values in my girls. Not to mention the help of a great nursing bra is imperative. I’m done nursing now, but I nursed my oldest daughter until she was 12 months and my second until she was 18 months old.

  • adorable and awesome cause! love when everything comes together like that! xo
