I’m not sure there’s another holiday that I have as much fun with as Halloween. I love the changing of the seasons, the apple and pumpkin picking trips, and the costumes. Finding costumes and dressing my kids up is really way more fun as a parent than it ever was as a kid.
While last year was a little more difficult in terms of logistics (I was about 6 weeks from having our third baby, Beau), I haven’t let a Halloween go by without celebrating to the fullest extent.
This year, we started at the beginning of the month. We painted pumpkins the first week of October, and have completely decked out the apartment in Halloween decorations in anticipation of our last Halloween in this apartment, our last in New York City (please pardon the melodrama, I can’t help myself).
The family and I attended a Halloween preview at Target’s offices in Manhattan where the kids got to dress up, load up on treats and crafted for hours while I peeped the fun decorations and chatted with Soleil Moon Frye.
We don’t get to shop at Target unless we have a vehicle, so this was a special treat (for me especially, as you know).
It was a treat talking to Soleil about her two daughters, their life in LA, and her gig as Target’s first Mommy Ambassador. Not to mention, her character as Punky Brewster was a fixture of sorts in my childhood, so I was completely tickled to meet her. She is as sweet and bubbly as you would imagine.
I am thrilled to announce that I am a new member of Target’s first ever Inner Circle, a small group of bloggers they selected from across the country. As a part of the Inner Circle, I will be doing attending special events and getting the inside Target scoop to share with you.
As an Inner Circle insider perk, we were lucky to have a little help from Target’s fabulous holiday decorations. Our apartment is tiny, so a little bit goes a long way, but I figured we might as well go big and really celebrate the heck out of this Halloween. Beau especially is enjoying the new colors and things hanging everywhere, though he doesn’t really understand it.
I especially loved the melamine plates, storage cup and BPA free straw sippy cup sets. More incentive to eat their meals!
Having little kids that appreciate this kind of thing makes doing this so much more special and fun. I can’t wait to share photos from this Halloween, as we’ll be trick-or-treating all decked out in the halls of our 36 floor apartment building.
The best part of all of this? I get to give a set of these decorations!
Win it!
I’m thrilled to announce that I’m giving away a huge box (or FOUR) of Halloween decorations from Target to one of you!
