Theo and Beau: The Next Chapter

by Jessica Shyba on December 20, 2013

in New York,Parenting,Pets,Photography,Theo and Beau

It’s nearly impossible to remember what life was like before Theo came into the picture.

I can’t fathom walking into our home and not having the sweetest little fur baby wagging his tail like crazy when he sees us. I don’t want to think about his wrinkled little face within the confines of the cage at the shelter-or any of their sweet little faces at the shelter for that matter.

This has been the most lovely development for our family, and it has completely engulfed all of us. The relationship that Beau and Theo have developed has been especially heart warming, knowing that somehow they were always destined to be in each other’s lives.

The wonderful way that the world has responded to the photos that I took on my cell phone and shared on Instagram-something that I have been doing for years as an individual, a mother, an amateur photographer, and a blogger-has changed us all. I’m humbled that our story and the relationship that Theo and Beau share has brought peace, joy and love to so many around the world.

Furthermore, as someone that created a social, public site for sharing my life with my family and eventually a much broader audience, it is part of my self-assigned job to promote awareness for the rescue organizations as a whole (amongst other things) as a part of this project. I am thrilled that the Santa Cruz SPCA continues to benefit from this story and the press surrounding it, including but certainly not limited to the 2,000 meals that “I and Love and You” donated to them yesterday.

Dreams Do Come True

For many years, it’s been something a dream of mine to write a book, and I couldn’t be more proud to announce the children’s series based on Theo and Beau that I have partnered with Fiewel & Friends to produce. Bedtime for Theo and Beau, the first of the two volumes, is set to be published on February 4, 2015.

IMG_2640

As promised, the Santa Cruz SPCA will be involved in the process, and I truly hope that they are able to finally build their new facility in place of the ranch house that currently serves as their primary shelter.

Short Film Teaser

Part of this magical process has also involved a short film created by Milwaukee based photographer Anna Mayer. The film, even the few seconds that I’ve seen of it and having been there throughout the making, is incredibly beautiful. Tear-inducing and heart-swellingly beautiful.

Theo and Beau- coming soon from Anna Mayer on Vimeo.

I cannot wait to share more details about both projects, but in the interim nap time is still a daily ritual for Theo and Beau and I continue to share their sweet moments on Instagram and Facebook.

My heart is so full. I am so grateful to all of you for your kind words and thoughts, not to mention your support of rescue organizations around the world.

I’m a big believer in giving pets a second chance. I also happen to love cute kids. The fact that you could create a world around such a beautiful and natural relationship while benefitting your local SPCA is just about the best success I could wish on anyone.

Let me know when to pre-order my copy!

We got a puppy a few weeks before you and I have never had a dog. She has changed our world in so many ways. She is crate trained, loves to sleep in her crate, but does love to snuggle and nap on the sofa and I just can’t imagine life without her.

I now look at those I (heart) my Rottweiler bumper stickers and think… “I need one of those!” because I really do love this dog. Thrilled that you can help the ASPCA. It’s become top of my giving list this year as well.

Cheers!

I’m so happy at the tremendous success you’re enjoying, not only because I think you are a great person, but also because I’m sure you didn’t start the Theo and Beau ‘series’ as a money making project, but as something out of love not just for your kids, but for all the rescue dogs out there.

The tender, sweet moments you capture and the “joy they bring to our world” are such a baby breath of fresh air. There’s nothing quite like the tender-hearted relationship between the innocence of a child and their pet and all they learn from and teach each other. Rescue pets are all me and my family have ever owned. I am so proud and excited for you and your family and this wonderful adventure you have embarked on. God bless your humble hearts. Good things come to good people. I look forward to all the loving moments yet to be. Merry Christmas & may God continue to bless you. Thank you, Shaziedoll

Beautiful. Visit your SPCA when you can provide a safe, secure, and loving inside home (such as the one illustrated). There are always too many pets for homes and they need your support. Can’t adopt, consider volunteering or make a donation of pet food or supplies.

Thank you for your sweet photo blog – wonderful!

I just had to tell you that the pictures you post melt my heart in the most literal sense of the word. I have been an animal lover as long as I can remember , my mom says she knew the day she brought my first best friend home and took our first picture together( which I still have, 20 years later) I grabbed his face and let his big wet tounge slap across my face. 2 months ago I adopted my own baby, paisley; and to this day I can trace back my love for animals to that first picture. You’re chrildren are so lucky to have a mama like you. Especially theo!!
