It’s nearly impossible to remember what life was like before Theo came into the picture.
I can’t fathom walking into our home and not having the sweetest little fur baby wagging his tail like crazy when he sees us. I don’t want to think about his wrinkled little face within the confines of the cage at the shelter-or any of their sweet little faces at the shelter for that matter.
This has been the most lovely development for our family, and it has completely engulfed all of us. The relationship that Beau and Theo have developed has been especially heart warming, knowing that somehow they were always destined to be in each other’s lives.
The wonderful way that the world has responded to the photos that I took on my cell phone and shared on Instagram-something that I have been doing for years as an individual, a mother, an amateur photographer, and a blogger-has changed us all. I’m humbled that our story and the relationship that Theo and Beau share has brought peace, joy and love to so many around the world.
Furthermore, as someone that created a social, public site for sharing my life with my family and eventually a much broader audience, it is part of my self-assigned job to promote awareness for the rescue organizations as a whole (amongst other things) as a part of this project. I am thrilled that the Santa Cruz SPCA continues to benefit from this story and the press surrounding it, including but certainly not limited to the 2,000 meals that “I and Love and You” donated to them yesterday.
Dreams Do Come True
For many years, it’s been something a dream of mine to write a book, and I couldn’t be more proud to announce the children’s series based on Theo and Beau that I have partnered with Fiewel & Friends to produce. Bedtime for Theo and Beau, the first of the two volumes, is set to be published on February 4, 2015.
As promised, the Santa Cruz SPCA will be involved in the process, and I truly hope that they are able to finally build their new facility in place of the ranch house that currently serves as their primary shelter.
Short Film Teaser
Part of this magical process has also involved a short film created by Milwaukee based photographer Anna Mayer. The film, even the few seconds that I’ve seen of it and having been there throughout the making, is incredibly beautiful. Tear-inducing and heart-swellingly beautiful.
My heart is so full. I am so grateful to all of you for your kind words and thoughts, not to mention your support of rescue organizations around the world.
Happiest of holidays to all of you, from all of us.
