Decked Out for Christmas

Every year, Christmas has slowly gone from being my least favorite to my most favorite holiday. The uptick began when Jack celebrated his first Christmas at 11 months old. We were living in a tiny apartment while Justin was working full time and completing his pre-requisite courses for admission to dental school. I was newly pregnant with Zoe and working a full time job as well, and we were struggling to make ends meet and maintain our stress levels and a high-quality of life at the same time. I look back on those years as some of my fondest, because as intense as it was, it was a little bit simpler and we were a new, blossoming family.

Now that Jack is nearly 10 and we have Zoe, Beau, Evangeline and our newest bundle due early in 2017, Christmas has many layers. They are lovely and special, and some of my most favorite traditions are held this time of year; from hunting for a Christmas tree to riding on the Roaring Camp Polar Express, to peeking at the light show at our local park, sometimes it’s the moments that we prioritize at home just the six of us that I love the most. I tend to allow more sweets and fun treats this time of year, and the kids absolutely love their hot chocolate/marshmallow/candy cane treats for after school on Fridays during December. I found some of the most adorable peppermint treats and snowflake mugs at our local Ross Dress For Less this month in their Holiday Decor section, and all four children were thrilled at the surprise. Of all the things I’m able to find at Ross at a fraction of the price of department stores, their Holiday Decor section is often my favorite.

The gifting season can often be one of the priciest of the entire year. I budget accordingly as much as possible throughout the year, but there ends up being tons of inevitable unexpected expenses and gifts that come up. Ross Dress For Less is a great option for buying deeply discounted but perfectly lovely gift wrap, decor and gifts of all kinds. I was able to find these gorgeous glitter and sequin candles that match perfectly with me my rose, gold and silver mantle theme. Gold, glittery pinecones and even festive serving plates and holiday themed kitchen towels-these are the kinds of things I like to pick up to spruce up the place for the days we have guests over or just so the kids feel like we’re decorating and getting excited for Santa’s arrival.

Spending time together as a family is my favorite part of the holiday season. I really don’t want to be stressed out about shopping or exceeding my budget, I want to be home drinking hot chocolate with my little ones and laughing at each other’s mustaches. Being able to shop at Ross Dress For Less allows for wiggle room in my budget and therefore time with my children during what is now my most favorite holiday and time of the year.
