Social Media Celebration with Olympus *Giveaway*

BlogHer 2012 is happening right now. It’s the largest blogging conference in the world and it’s being held in my beautiful city and being attended by over 4,500 people, including the President of the United States (via live video feed). It’s my second time at this particular event, and I wouldn’t have missed it. You see, the fantastic thing about this community is the incredible relationships that are made online-friendships that would have never happened without the glorious thing called the internet and the devotion of amazing men and women to put their art out into this space. I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of it.

This conference is an animal of extraordinary social media proportions. The moments with people are fast and crazy and hopefully not all rushed, but generally that seems to be the case. That’s when my particularly favorite facet of the internet comes into play: Photo taking and sharing via various outlets. One moment is extended into many, triggering future conversations and lasting indefinitely.

It’s been an absolute honor to be in the same room as many of these women. Talk about wall-to-wall inspiration, creativity, and entrepreneurship… If for no other reason, being at this conference is a spark for igniting ideas and passions that for me tend to lie dormant around raising a family. It feels really amazing to open these doors and peek beyond the immediate, and be around women who somehow manage to “do it all”.

Photo taking and editing has been such an amazing outlet for me in the last couple of years, and a huge part of my blog because of it. Given my adoration for photography and appreciation for the digital world, I was thrilled to be asked to parter with Olympus to document my journey through BlogHer 2012 with their new Olympus PEN E-PL3 camera.

E-PL3-2

I particularly love that it’s so teeny, yet the 12.3 megapixel sensor is designed to work it’s best in any condition (low light, fast moving objects, etc.), so the images come out really beautiful regardless. Plus, it has a built in stabilizer and color enhancer, so this camera is also great for snapping my children in their element. I can toss the camera in my purse and barely know it’s there until I need it in a split second. My lifestyle seems to dictate the need for anything that can multitask, so the fact that it has the quickest auto-focus and can take 5 photos at a time is truly necessary when in conference mode, or out with the kids at the park. I’ve been so happy with my experience with the PEN E-PL3.
